Happy 2nd day of Spring! March is my favourite month of the year because it’s my birthday on the 28th so I’m counting down the days! Whoop, whoop!… So, over the weekend I did something really exciting, I’ve been testing out some of the latest fragrances which I think are Spring-worthy perfumes. The selection varies from fresh to very bold/intense fragrances and each perfume fits a certain time of the day.
Estee Lauder // Modern Muse Chic (eau de parfum)
Top Notes | Plum, Artemisia
Middle Notes | Jasmine Sambac, Tuberose, Lily
Base Notes | Cashmere Wood, Agarwood (Oud), Labdanum, Ebony Tree, Musk, Suede, Madagascar Vanilla, Patchouli
I think that the Modern Muse Chic will become like one of those recognisable fragrances like; Chanel No.5, D&G Light Blue or Tresor by Lancome. The fragrance is a one of kind and I’m not really able to compare the scent with other fragrances. The Modern Muse Chic is a bold and more intense version of the original Modern Muse fragrance. The list of ingredients must be the longest list I’ve ever seen but it’s so worth it! I would describe this fragrance as a woody-floral, yet sweet perfume and I absolutely adore the combination of the vanilla with the woody tones!
I would wear this fragrance on date night or when I’m attending an event in the evening. It’s quite strong, feminine, sweet and the longevity is insane! It lasted about 7-8 hours with just a few sprays, it’s a fragrance that you can smell from across the room..
Price (50ml): 425 AED / $80
Roberto Cavalli // Paradiso (eau de parfum)
Top Notes | Citruses, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot
Middle Notes | Jasmine
Base Notes | Pine Tree, Cypress, Pink Laurel
Even though the top notes contain some of my favourite ingredients, I’m not a big fan of it. To me, the combination of the Jasmine and Citrus notes aren’t a good choice. It’s a good thing that the top notes don’t last very long because I prefer the scent when the base notes starts opening up. It changes into a floral-woody, yet fresh scent and it’s beautiful! This is a fragrance that I can see myself wearing when I go to the beach or if I would spend the day at the pool, it’s fresh yet feminine. Also, the bottle is stunning, very glamorous!
Price (50ml): 375 AED / $86
Chloe // Love Story (eau de parfum)
Top Notes | Neroli
Middle Notes | Stephanotis, Orange Blossom
Base Notes | Musk, Cedar
The ingredients of this fragrance are simple and quite straight forward. You have the fruity accords combined with the woody accords. The woody notes are definitely present and the fresh notes open up more at the end. This is a fragrance that I would wear when I’m meeting friends during the day for lunch. The scent is definitely present, but it’s not too dominating, it’s a floral-sweet and innocent fragrance.
Price (50ml): 495 AED / $105
Guerlain // La Petite Robe Noir Eau Fraiche (eau de toilette)
Top Notes | Lemon, Bergamot, Mandarin Orange, Orange Blossom
Middle Notes | Almond Blossom, Freesia, Turkish & Bulgarian Rose, Jamsine Sambac
Base Notes | Tonka Bean, Almond, Pistachio, Patchouli, White Musk
The combination of the ingredients in the fragrance is definitely one of a kind! The accords of the top notes does make sense since it’s described as a ”fresh” fragrance, but the almonds and pistachio in the base notes are an interesting choice. Personally, I can’t smell the nuts in the fragrance, I do smell the combination of the Citruses, White Musk & a pinch of Patchouli and it’s absolutely gorgeous! Compared to the previous La Petite Robe Noir fragrances it is a fresh scent, but generally speaking, I wouldn’t describe the fragrance as fresh at all. It’s a sweet, rosy, musky a bit citrusy and quite strong which makes it last very long. I really do enjoy the smell of this fragrance because I looove me some sweet perfumes!.. This is a fragrance I would wear if I’m going to brunch, it’s sweet & innocent, yet dominating at the same time.
