With the start of the holy month of Ramadan, What tips would you give us to maintain the
freshness of a woman’s skin, and what is the best make-up that fits this holy month?
Apply some coverage on the skin (if you need to) for an even skin tone color. You don’t necessary
have to use foundation you can use something light such as a tinted bb cream (which is
moisturizing for the skin as well) or a powdered foundation. Most Arab women have dark circles
under their eyes, I suggest to cover them with a concealer 1 shade lighter than the skin tone. Make
sure the eyebrows are even and shaped well (not too thick or too thin). Don’t go too overboard
with the blusher, apply a little bit just too give your skin a healthy look. Keep the eyes very simple, if
you’re using eyeshadow use nude and earthy colors. You can even use shimmery eyeshadow as
long as it’s a toned down color. Apply mascara on your top and bottom lashes. If you like having
long lashes, wear false lashes. A tip to make the false lashes look super natural is to use individual
lashes. Apply them at the outer corners of your eyes. Lipstick can be selected by own taste.

What products should a lady carry in her bag?
1. Lipstick
2. Blush
3. Mascara
4. Concealer
5. Compact face powder

When did you discovered that you have a talent in the field of make-up? And why did you
decided to go into this field?
I always had a passion for make-up and everything that had to do with beauty. I used to study
fashion and during this journey I realized that I had more interested for make-up then fashion.

I love making women feel and look beautiful and this will instantly change her confident. I really
enjoy advising women on how to use and apply make-up, because this will change their lives and it
makes them feel more confident about themselves. A women can wear a beautiful outfit but if her
make-up doesn’t look good it will change her whole appearance.

After I got my fashion degree, I decided to study make-up. After studying make-up in for a year I
got my make-up degree in 2009 and since then I’ve been working as a freelance make-up artist.

In 2009 I successfuly achieved my degree as a professional make-up Artist. Since then I started
working as a freelance make-up Artist in The Netherlands. In 2011 I moved to Dubai and continued
my career and I’m proud to call myself now a celebrity make-up Artist. Beside a make-up artist I’m
also a make-up blogger. I felt that this was missing in the region and recently I launched my blog:
www.najlakaddour.com. On my blog you can find everything you want to know about make-up. I
write about my journey as a celebrity make-up artist in Dubai. I write reviews about make-up
products, the latest trends, I give tips and tricks, I film tutorials and much more.
Where do you get your inspiration from if you’re doing the make-up of models and who is
your beauty icon?

I get my inspiration and idea’s from everywhere. I get many idea’s just by looking at colors.
Beyonce and Rihanna are my two beauty icons at the moment.
What do you offer in your blog, and how do you interact with what’s being said?
I offer product reviews if women want to buy a product but they don’t know anything about it yet,
they can find all the information on my blog. I test it on myself first and then give my opinion. I write
about my journey as a celebrity make-up artist in Dubai. I write about the latest trends, I give tips
and tricks and I film tutorials.

Which celebrities have you worked with, and who is your favorite celebrity when it comes
to makeup?
At the moment Rihanna inspires me the most. I’m obsessed by her sense of beauty. I love the
super bold lips in combination with her beautiful bronzed skin. I was handpicked by E! News as the
exclusive make-up artist for their visit to Dubai which has given me the opportunity to work
alongside Jennifer Lopez and her team. During their visit I did the make-up for E! News celebrity
reporter Alicia Quarles. I also did the make-up for Beau Casper Smart who is the boyfriend and
background dancer of Jennifer Lopez. Recently I did the make-up for Mariel Haenn who is a
celebrity stylist for the biggest stars in the world like Rihanna, Will Smith, Jay Z, Jennifer Lopez,
Shakira and many more.

What are the colors that tops the makeup market for the spring season and summer of
2013?
This season it’s all about glowy skin that for example Jennifer Lopez is always wearing. Bronzed
cheeks, nude eyes and a very bright lipstick (orange, fuchsia or red) are the trends for this
Summer & Spring.

What are the steps to apply the makeup look for this season?
1. Face: During Spring/Summer it’s really hot outside so you want to wear a light product that has
SPF in it. I recommend to wear a tinted BB cream because I think a foundation is too thick to wear
in the summer. With a BB cream you’ve got coverage and your skin will be able to breath.

2. Glow/Highlights: Glowy skin is a big trend this season. With the uplight gel luminizer by MAKE
UP FOR EVER you can achieve the perfect glow on your skin. Apply the gel on your cheekbones,
brow bones, chin and nose. After applying the gel set in your face with a loose powder to prevent
your skin from creasing because of the hot weather. If you want to add more glow then you can
use a gold or silver shimmery eyeshadow on the same area’s.

3. Cheeks: For a sun kissed skin use a bronzer. You will look tanned and healthy in combination
with the glow.

4. Eyes: Use nude and earthy eyeshadow colors. Use a shimmery eyeshadow that has a gold or
silver undertone and apply it around the tear duct. This is a big trend and a #1 runway look! If you
want to add a bit of color on your eyes, apply a bright blue or green eye pencil on your waterline.
Apply mascara on your top and bottom lashes to make your eyes appear bigger.

5. Lips: Go for a super bright lipstick color. SInce the rest of the make-up is really simple and toned
down, you can go crazy with the lips. Fuchsia, orange, red or even purple colors are very trendy
this season.

Arab women often prefer strong makeup unlike foreign women, do you like to follow Arabic
makeup style?
My make-up style isn’t Arabic at all. My make-up style is very light, less is more.

I think Arab women are naturally very beautiful and they already have beautiful features. By
wearing an Arab style make-up look, will only hide the beautiful features she has. By using
minimum make-up and accentuating the features will make Arab women more beautiful than they
already are.

What advice would you give to Arab women?
Arab women naturally already have dark eyes and dark eyebrows. I suggest to keep the eye
make-up very nude and simple. Sometimes an Arab lady only has to wear mascara and some eye
pencil for her make-up to look heavy. Define your beauty. Define the beautiful features in you face.

From your experience, what are the mistakes committed by women when applying
makeup?
I still see a lot of women not blending well their eyeshadow. To me it’s very disturbing to look at
because they would look so much better if the would blend it well. Also many women are trying to
make their lips bigger with lip pencil. It doesn’t suit everybody and it doesn’t look natural. Don’t go
overboard and try to create something that isn’t there.

What is your favorite makeup look, day or evening makeup?
Definitely evening look! My favorite evening make-up is a brown/gold shimmery eyeshadow with an
eyeliner. Mascara and false lashes of course. I would go for bold lips and use burgundy or red
colors. And of course a glowy skin!  This look just makes every woman look so feminine and
attractive.

15. How can a lady get a natural makeup look in simple steps?
– Glow/Highlights: Glowy skin is a big trend this season. With the uplight gel luminizer by MAKE UP
FOR EVER you can achieve the perfect glow on your skin. Apply the gel on your cheekbones,
brow bones, chin and nose. After applying the gel set in your face with a loose powder to prevent
your skin from creasing. If you want to add more glow then you can use a gold or silver shimmery
eyeshadow on the same area’s. For a sun kissed skin use a bronzer. You will look tanned and
healthy in combination with the glow.

– If you need a little bit of sparkle, use shimmery eyeshadows but toned down colors. If you want to
keep it simple, use matte earthy eyeshadows.

What are your upcoming projects? Is it possible to see a future Cosmetics brand carried by
your name?
My plans for the future are to keep working hard and making women all over the world look and
feel beautiful. 2013 has already been a very busy and successful year. I have a couple of goals
which include working with a couple of my favorite celebrities and I hope to launch my make-up
line soon. Visit my blog www.najlakaddour.com to stay updated with my work and all the latest
