First impression: Peter Thomas Roth 24k Gold Mask

When I got this gold mask sent to me, I was SUPER excited to try it out! I was planning
to do a first impression video about it and demonstrate how to use it and so on. I was so
curious to see what the mask would do to my skin so I tried it out before filming it
because I was expecting to like it. Little did I know that this mask would cause me
horrible break-outs, so I’d rather avoid using it again on my skin. As I touched the
texture of the mask for the first time, I already got worried. The gold mask has a very
thick and sticky texture and my oily skin doesn’t always react well to these kind of thick

The mask is suppose to help lift and plump the skin, the 24k gold helps to achieve a
radiant and glowy skin. It contains caffeine which helps to tighten and firm the
appearance of the skin, it’s also suppose to reduce the look of fine lines. According to the
directions of the product, you have to apply a generous, non-transparent layer to clean
skin and leave it on for 10 minutes, which I did. After 10 minutes I tried to rinse it off
with warm water which didn’t work. Also, it didn’t dry up like most facial masks do.
Since the texture remained very thick and sticky, I had to take it off using a wet cloth and
then rinse my face. A few hours later, my skin got very oily and I even got break-outs on
the same day!! The next day, the break-outs had gotten even worse. My skin was finally
blemish and pimple-free so I was pretty annoyed when the break-out started to come

It’s such a shame that this mask doesn’t work well for me because I’ve always had a good
experience with Peter Thomas Roth skincare products. I guess it works better on dry or
aged skin instead of combination/oily skin. Although it’s such a cool idea to have a
24 karat mask on your face, I have to give this mask a thumbs down!
