Posing with Rachael and Ali

SLaM is a new hair salon co-founded by one of Dubai’s TOP colourists Raechel
Stevenson.
The salon is located in the heart of Al Quoz surrounded by art galleries and
right next to Tom and Serge cafe. Rachael specialises in fashion colouring, foil highlights,
lowlights and colour correction. If you always wanted to have an ombre done, SLaM
Salon
is the place to be for an ombre!

SLaM Salon uses eco-friendly towels, paraben free shampoos and premium products
(an extra excuse to visit the salon).

In the before picture I had a very dry, bad hair day! Hence the amazing shine at the after
images!

“Finally a hairdresser that doesn’t cut too much!”

It’s always hard to find a hairdresser that doesn’t cut too much, I’m sure a lot of women
can relate to this. I had some layers cut by Ali Keogh because I wanted to have some
movement going on in my hair rather than having long flat hair. At the same time I
wanted to keep the length of my hair. Ali literally cut off 1 inch (the dry ends only) and in
the front a bit more to create layers. She has unique techniques in cutting hair and I was
very pleased with the results!

I loved Ali’s work on my hair!

Snaps of my hair with better lightening.

In my last hair tutorial I mentioned that I’ve got black henna in my hair and I have to
wait for it to grow out. Almost half of it is grown out but my natural hair colour starting
from the roots were really showing the colour differences I had in my hair. Rachael
coloured my roots in a matching shade to the black henna which is almost dark brown
now (thank God!)

The hair colour is temporary and will fade away after about 20-25 washes, which is fine
with me because I want to get rid of the dark colour eventually but at the moment I
have to keep everything dark and wait for the henna to grow out.

I LOVE the shine in my hair! All products used on my hair were paraben and ammonia
free!

The unique interior was inspired by a shared love of travel and natural environments.

The salon looks like a such a cool and edgy industrial place to be! (btw I think the brick
walls would be so cool for photo shoots!)

The salon has flat shower beds which I’ve never seen in any salons before. It’s more
comfortable and it prevents neck pain whilst getting your hair washed!

Ali is amazing. do u still henna your hair? Since, I’ve moved to Dubai I’ve been dealing with hair fall which is really frustrating . I’m done with chemical color. Considering henna my hair. Are u happy with it and its results? Please, let me know how was your experience with henna. Many thanks.

      Hi Rose,

I actually regret colouring my hair with henna. It’s impossible to change it to another colour unless you bleach your hair which is super damaging for the hair. So, now I have to wait probably another year (I’m on year 3 now) for the henna to grow out. If I were you, I would do one of those hair colouring treatments that doesn’t contain ammonia or any damaging chemicals.

      Good luck!

        Hello Najla,

Many thanks for the reply and sharing your experience.
I should do more research then! 🙂

        Have a good day.

        Rose
