I know I’ve been a bit MIA on my blog lately. Continuously traveling and being consistent on my blog at the same time isn’t an easy task. Not to mention, whenever I’m back in town it gets super busy with my work as a make-up artist so unfortunately I’ve been neglecting the blog a little but… I’m back!
Two weeks ago I traveled to Amsterdam, which is where I grew up and where I lived prior to moving to the UAE. Even though I did snuck in some touristic activities, my trip was focused on getting much needed family time and get in touch with some old friends. Amsterdam keeps evolving and every time I go back, I enjoy it more. If you love sneakers and urban clothing brands then Amsterdam is definitely the place for you.
The city is a melting pot of so many different nationalities and cultures which means; good food! If you’re ever in Amsterdam, definitely try to explore food from: Java/Indonesia, Surinam, Ghana, Dutch Antilles, Turkey and Morocco. And definitely do not forget to try traditional Dutch fries (with lots of mayonnaise), syrup waffles, croquettes, liquorice candy and cheese! The city also has great chilled out spots and vintage stores in area’s such as; the Jordaan and 9 straatjes (9 streets filled with cool spots).
The R&B and Hip-hop clubbing scene is pretty amazing too. When it comes to partying and clubbing, I’m the most boring person you’ll ever meet. But, Amsterdam has small and intimate venues like Melkweg and Paradiso where the music, artists and vibe is just amazing! I got to attend Bryson Tiller’s concert at Melkweg who happened to be in Amsterdam when I was there.
Without further due, enjoy my little photo diary during my trip to Amsterdam!
