Last Tuesday (28th of March) it was my birthday, whoop whoop! I kind of spread out my birthday celebrations over the entire week because Ryadh and I both had some work responsibilities so we couldn’t really celebrate on the day itself – however, I did enjoy all the other days. we did a bunch of different things, the weekend prior to my birthday we went for a quick getaway to Abu Dhabi and the weekend after my birthday, Ryadh surprised me with a helicopter tour over Dubai and it was AWESOME!!
I’ve been on a helicopter before when I was in Cape Town so luckily the experience wasn’t scary for me. It was such a beautiful clear day, thank God it wasn’t gloomy or foggy so the view from above was just perfect!
The weekend prior to my birthday we stayed at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Abu Dhabi. It’s definitely one of my favorite hotels in AD, they have the best restaurants and the pool area is HUGE! Unfortunately it rained all weekend so we couldn’t really tan or enjoy the pool/beach so we literally just hung out in the room, watched movies all day and tried out the restaurants. We tried the “Le Petit Chef” experience for the first time. It’s a 6-course dinner experience with a miniature chef projected on your table. He travels to different continents and each time he discovers different spices and flavors, you’ll receive a meal inspired by that. It was really entertaining and unlike any other dining experience I’ve ever had.
Lunch at One Life cafe
After our helicopter tour, we had our favorite egg dish (the best shakshouka in town) at One Life cafe in D3. Then we went strolling through the D3 area.
Coffee stop at Walter’s
We tried out Walter’s cafe in Dubai mall for the first time. I’m personally a huge fan of the tv-serie Breaking Bad and this cafe is inspired by that. The coffee was great and the staff was hilarious, they sang a birthday song to me and gave me a free cookie LOL!
