My stay + review in Seminyak, Bali

This summer I traveled to Bali for the first time and I visited a few different places on the island. First, I went to Ubud and my second stop was in Seminyak where I spent a few days. I felt like each area in Bali is so different from another. Seminyak is kind of the party area and felt more like a city instead of an island. During my days there, I stayed at the Anantara resort which is located along the coastline. Since Seminyak is a busy place with lots of traffic and tourists, the Anantara resort is a nice little getaway from the busy streets. If you love a good party but still want to relax by the beach during the day, then I definitely recommend visiting Seminyak.

The hotel has 59 suites and 1 penthouse. Some of the suites have a beach view and others have a pool view. Each suite has a huge jacuzzi on the balcony along with a sofa lounge. What I loved the most about this hotel is the size of the rooms, it’s huge! It feels like a loft and whether you have a beach view or pool view, they’re both equally as beautiful. I stayed in a room with beach view and it was very peaceful, I would just sit lounge on the balcony, read a book and listen to the waves. On some evenings there are live bands on the beach that you can enjoy from the balcony or down at the beach on bean bags. Each room has a giant walk-in closet with a make-up table which is super convenient.

The resort has 2 restaurants:

MoonLite Kitchen & Bar (contemporary Asian cuisine)
Moonlite was my favorite restaurant, this is where the breakfast buffet is served where you can sit outdoors and enjoy the beautiful beach view and surfers. The breakfast buffet wasn’t very vegan friendly in my opinion so I mainly just had fruits and coffee. During the evenings you can enjoy the stunning and colorful sunset, it’s so nice to lounge here at night.

Wild Orchid (Asian & continental cuisine)
This restaurant is located near the entrance of the resort. There’s an indoor area and outdoor terrace with a pool and beach view. They serve mainly Asian and international food. I wasn’t very creative with the food there, I mainly had my favorite Indonesian dishes which are Mie Goreng, Gado Gado and some nice mocktails.

The resort has 2 large pools. One sea view pool and the other is a garden view pool. The sea view pool can be a bit too over crowded in my opinion so I much more prefer the garden view pool because t’s more quiet and peaceful. The rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the pool from their patio.

Seminyak has the most beautiful beach sunsets I’ve ever seen. During the day the sky is filled with clouds and the sunsets are super colorful. One of the beach activities that are possible at the resort is surfing & windsurfing. The beach has public access and is not exclusive to hotel guests which was a bit of a bummer because it can get very crowded at times, especially at night. In the evenings there’s quite a nice atmosphere on the beach. The hotel has an outdoor dining experience on the beach surrounded by romantic light bulbs and lanterns. There’s a also a live band performing on the beach and a huge fire place.

The property is pretty big but not as huge as the Anantara in Uluwatu. There are many ways to enjoy yourself at the hotel however, there’s also a lot to do around the hotel. I do recommend renting a scooter in Seminyak, it’s much faster getting from A to B especially with the amount of traffic the island has. There are a lot of hip cafes, clubs, shopping places and restaurants around the hotel. Check out some of my favorite vegan spots in Bali by clicking here.
